China Issues Renewed Warning to EU Over Separate EV Negotiations
China has reiterated its warning to the European Union, cautioning that if the EU engages in separate negotiations with electric vehicle (EV) companies while still in talks with China, it could undermine mutual trust and disrupt overall discussions. This message, released by China’s Commerce Ministry on Monday, echoes a similar warning issued earlier this month.
This latest reminder comes shortly after China and the EU agreed to advance technical negotiations on alternatives to tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles. Both parties had previously agreed that price commitments would remain the main approach to resolving the issue, and China has confirmed that the next round of consultations has already started.
Last Friday, Beijing extended an invitation to the EU team, stating it “welcomed the EU team to come to China as soon as possible.”
