Wall Street Opens Lower as Semiconductor and Megacap Stocks Retreat
Wall Street’s main indexes opened lower on Wednesday, as semiconductor and megacap stocks gave back their early gains. Investors are looking ahead to a crucial inflation report due later in the week.
At the opening bell, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 49.0 points, or 0.13%, to 39,063.15. The S&P 500 dropped by 8.6 points, or 0.16%, to 5,460.71, while the Nasdaq Composite declined by 20.4 points, or 0.12%, to 17,697.27.
